Peter Bruce is professor of chemistry at the University of St Andrews where he leads a research group dedicated to materials chemistry,
especially ionically conducting solids (both extended arrays and polymers). Such materials hold the key to the future development of clean energy
conversion and storage devices essential to mitigate CO2 emissions and hence global warming. His group synthesize new materials with new
properties or combinations of properties and seek to understand such properties and their structure-property relationships.
He has been elected to the Royal Society and the Royal Society of Edinburgh, has held research fellowships from the Royal Society,
the Royal Society of Edinburgh and the Leverhulme Trust, and a number of awards, named lectureships, medals and prizes, both national and international.
