F001. Superstructures in Bi2O3-containing solid solutions

Superstructures in Bi2O3-containing solid solutions

Left: HRTEM image of type II superstructure in Bi-Nb-O system. The inset is the corresponding SAED pattern. Right: A proposal model showing the arrangement of Nb-O clusters in the cubic Bi2O3 matrix. Several types of superstructures have been found in the Bi2O3-containing solid solutions. Some are commensurate and some are incommensurate. [W. Zhou, D. A. Jefferson, J. M. Thomas, Proc. Roy. Soc. Lond. A406 , 173-82 (1986)]. Related work in other Bi2O3-containing ternary oxide solid solutions can be found in [W. Zhou, J. Solid State Chem. 76, 290-300 (1988); W. Zhou, J. Solid State Chem. 87, 44-54 (1990); W. Zhou, Adv. Mater. 2, 414-20 (1990); W. Zhou, J. Solid State Chem. 101, 1-17 (1992); W. Zhou, J. Solid State Chem. 108, 381-94 (1994)].
